Luxor Day Trip by Coach / Semi-Private

Early in the morning we leave Hurghada, and from the minibus you can admire the sunrise over the Red Sea and watch the first rays of sunlight reflect off the vividly colored mountains as we go deeper into the Eastern Desert. Suddenly the landscape changes character: the barren mountains give way to fertile fields, date palms, and finally the Nile, winding through the land like a life-giving vein.

Karnak Temple

In Luxor we visit Karnak Temple, where for thousands of years the pharaohs competed in splendor and architectural artistry to honor the gods. Your guide will tell you about the pharaohs’ many achievements and how the giant columns and obelisks decorating the temple were raised.

The West Bank

After a good lunch we head to the West Bank, which in ancient times was the burial ground of pharaohs as well as ordinary Egyptians. We stop at the legendary Colossi of Memnon and visit the Temple of Hatshepsut.

Valley of the Kings

The day ends with a visit to one of Luxor’s greatest attractions, the Valley of the Kings. We tour three of the most beautiful and interesting tombs and learn about life in the underground chambers and why a pharaoh’s tomb was so important to the ancient Egyptians. You will also have free time to visit, for example, the tomb of the boy king Tutankhamun (entrance to this particular tomb is paid separately).

Itinerary

04:00 – 05:00 – Pickup from your hotel in a comfortable minibus. Traveling in a small group ensures a pleasant, relaxing ride, with snacks and drinks on board.

09:30 – Arrival in Luxor. Guided tour of Karnak Temple with a dedicated Egyptologist guide.

11:30 – Optional private Nile cruise on an elegant boat, so you can fully enjoy the views over this legendary river (cruise available for an extra $10 per person).

12:30 – Lunch at a local restaurant, featuring a buffet of Egyptian dishes and local specialties.

13:30 – Transfer by minibus to the Valley of the Kings.

15:00 – Visit to the Temple of Hatshepsut and the Colossi of Memnon.

16:00 – Return to the minibus for the relaxing drive back to Hurghada, with drinks and light snacks on board.

20:00 – Estimated arrival back at your hotel.

Tips

We recommend ordering a lunch box from your hotel reception and bringing water and warm clothing for the overnight journey.
